Here's something exciting to tweet about! In collaboration with the farming research organisation Agri-EPI Centre, Chirrup.ai is launching a groundbreaking project called **ChirrupNano**, an affordable solution for measuring and managing biodiversity. This innovative tool uses birdsong as a key to unlocking the secrets of wildlife, previously hidden from the nature reserves and the back garden bird-counts.

ChirrupNano is about to take flight, and here's why:

* **Smaller, smarter, self-sufficient**: The next-gen bio-recorder is miniaturised, self-locating, remotely deployed, and designed and built right here in the UK. Delivered straight to the farm, it'll be deployable in sun and shade, in remote fields, and in woodland - wherever it's needed.
* **The robot ecologist**: Chirrup's AI already recognises over 100 species from GB and Ireland. But it's getting major retraining, to recognise all the important ones that the UK's pioneering NGOs have drawn to our attention (thanks WWF, RSPB, BTO, The Wildlife Trusts, and GWCT!).
* **Finding biodiversity champions**: Our redesigned web app lets farms compare their species lists to others, to standard benchmarks, and even their own past performance. This empowers them to make more informed decisions about sustainable practices, leading to a richer, healthier ecosystem (think increased plant diversity, better soil, and fewer pests!).

**Why birds?** Birds are ecological barometers: they're everywhere, super responsive to change, and their presence tells a story about the thriving life beneath their wings, from insects and seeds to the general quality of the ecosystem.

**Perfect for farms**: With farmland covering a huge 71% of the UK, it's the ideal testing ground for ChirrupNano. It's been poorly studied by ecologists so far, but farmers are being asked to respond to changing government and food company policies on pro-wildlife production. ChirrupNano is about making it easy, fast, and affordable. One hundred farmers invited to the farmland trial, will help us refine ChirrupNano, but will also contribute to the future of environmental monitoring in the UK.

**Coming soon to a field near you**: We'll be putting ChirrupNano to the test in the spring of 2025, across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. An expert ornithologist and ecologists will analyse and validate the results, while Agri-EPI Centre will build the buy-in from across the industry. To share our findings, we'll be hosting two exciting events at project end - stay tuned!</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
