The learning and outputs from that R&D and customer feedback from subsequent commercialisation has informed our concept for a game-changing new video editing paradigm, and new technology platform to realise and commercialise it.

As a result of global internet and device technology evolution and institutional behaviour change stimulated by lockdowns and economic downturn, video is the preferred media format for most communications professionals, and interactive content the preferred digital experience of most employees for training, of most students for education, and of most customers for understanding products.

In line with these two trends, our own domain expertise, research and commercial experience has shown that most organisations now want and need to produce interactive and immersive video content as easily and affordably as linear video content, for multiple delivery platforms of their choice.

However, in its current form, interactive video is too hard for most corporate and learning teams to use as effectively and flexibly as they need compared to other forms of media, requiring specialist development and design skills and significant budgets and resources.

Because of the design limitations of existing legacy video editors, platforms, codecs, data size and file wrappers, video is created, uploaded and embedded onto web pages and apps as uninteractive pre-rendered files of fixed duration.

In this project, we will further research and understand organisations' design and technology needs in order to develop a new interactive video editing interface and workflow model, underpinned by a new open Object-Based-Media data exchange and file formats for interactive and immersive content creation, to lead a market with hundreds of millions of users.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
