MindSafe is a digital platform designed to deliver mental wellness support to children, at scale. Focusing specifically on developing and integrating new lines, in the form of gamified features into the MindSafe platform, enhancing user engagement and driving further mental wellbeing improvements.

This innovation ensures our solution is effective and engaging for our target audience. Using simple applied machine learning using numeric algorithms to select and supply elements such as points, levels, rewards, and mini-games to create an immersive and supportive environment that encourages children to actively participate in their mental wellness. This creative approach, seeks to inspire children to take ownership of their wellbeing, empowering them to lead happier, healthier lives.

Our project innovation lies in incorporating gamification elements tailored to the specific needs and preferences of the children. Drawing inspiration from the National Institute of Health's findings on the effectiveness of gamified scenarios in promoting healthy behaviours among young individuals, we aim to motivate children to adopt positive coping mechanisms by incorporating game elements such as rewards, challenges, goal setting and mini-games.

These gamified features include rewards for regular logins, access to personalised content, wellness ambassador awards, and a variety of mini-games proven to promote relaxation, emotional regulation, and positive decision-making. Some gamification elements we plan to integrate into MindSafe include mini yoga routines, stretching activities, to release frustration, guided breathing to induce calmness, decision-making tools, and affirmation wheels, and more.

Moreover, our innovative approach integrates user input and feedback directly into the co-design process. Through extensive user research and engagement with pupil user groups, we have identified the specific needs and preferences of our target audience, ensuring that the gamification elements we develop are tailored to their lived experiences and effectively address their mental wellness concerns.

Supported by Birmingham City University, West Midlands Health Innovation Technology Accelerator, Beta Den, and Worcester, Birmingham, and Staffordshire Councils, all development and research will be completed in the West Midlands, with the highest level of user participation and safeguarding.

Our project represents a creative solution to promote children's mental wellbeing. By harnessing the power of gamification, we strive to inspire children to prioritise their mental wellbeing and empower them to lead happier, healthier lives. This innovative approach sets us apart and ensures that our solution is effective and engaging for our target audience.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
