This project aims to transition Hormona's existing consumer-focused platform into a clinically validated support tool for healthcare providers. Our innovation combines at-home hormone monitoring with smartphone-enabled quantitative analysis and AI-driven clinical decision support.

Women are able to track their cycle, log symptoms, and monitor key reproductive hormones, Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Estrogen, and Progesterone, using lateral flow immunoassay tests alongside the Hormona app. Our tests use first-morning urine samples, a method widely validated as a non-invasive, reliable alternative to blood testing. Captured test strip images on the Hormona app are analysed by our in-house AI, combining advanced computer vision and machine learning models trained on hormone reference data, captured in the laboratory.

The platform generates structured reports aligned with NICE menopause guidelines, providing clear, actionable insights into hormone trends, symptom patterns, and menstrual cycle history. These reports are designed to be easily shared with healthcare providers, enabling faster, accurate, and more personalised clinical decision-making within the constraints of 10-minute appointment times.

By bringing longitudinal hormone data directly to both patients and clinicians, Hormona Perimenopause shifts care from reactive symptom management to proactive, preventative intervention. This feasibility project will explore the technical, clinical, commercial and regulatory validation needed to integrate the solution into NHS and private healthcare systems, laying the foundation for future scaling.

Hormona's work directly supports the NHS Long Term Plan's ambition to expand digital innovation and personalised care, and the Women's Health Strategy's goals to improve menopause education, diagnosis, and access to support.

Our mission is to empower women with earlier, clearer insights into their hormone health, improve long-term health outcomes, and reduce pressure on healthcare services by addressing the root causes of menopause-related morbidity earlier. This feasibility study is supported by Innovate UK, following Hormona's successful participation in the AI in Health Accelerator.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
