The proposed project will see the development of an innovative and disruptive compression-ignition engine solution known as PM2020, that works to improve fuel economy by more than 5% and reduce particulate matter by 35-65% in diesel and biodiesel fuelled engines. This will massively support initial target sectors, including power-generation and shipping sectors to meet incoming regulations, reduce fuel costs and reduce the human health and environmental impacts of their activities. Innovate UK funding will help convert PM2020 into a hardened manufactured product, bringing it to the brink of commercial deployment through further prototyping and road testing. Panacea has a talented team in place to deliver the project alongside distribution channels that provide a direct route to market.
