pipe to pipe coupling device that would be directly suitable to oil and gas applications. It will
be suitable for use on subsea &amp;amp; topside offshore environments as well as being directly suited
to onshore operations.
The device will include metal seals that will satisfy direct demands from the market.
Currently, the only pipe to pipe coupling solutions require hot process operations such as
welding &amp;amp; machining around pipe or section replacements, requiring lengthy &amp;amp; safety critical
plant shutdowns to carry out the work. Once a weld has been completed the join must then be
x-rayed to confirm soundness. Both welding and X-raying require lengthy operation times and
critical safety considerations which increase expense.
SRJ aims to develop the device to meet industry standards in seal soundness, internal
pressures and seal integrity that requires no welding. This will deliver an 87.5% reduction in
downtime to the operators &amp;amp; up to &amp;pound;300k per application whilst critically being certifiable to
Lloyds Regulatory Type Approval as a permanent solution. The device is set to be useful for
pipe repair, and replacement during the maintenance of current assets, but primarily will be of
high value to infrastructure expansion and the development of new oil and gas refineries.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
