The process uses freeze-templating to generate the desired structure followed by lyophilisation (freeze-drying) to dry the product. The process is continuous and intensified to enable heat and mass transfer to occur ~100 times quicker than traditional batch freeze drying. However this means that traditional analytical techniques from batch processing are not applicable. We need help to develop a new online measurement technique suitable for continuous intensified freeze drying in order to enable us to add online process control and optimisation capability to the equipment. We believe the application of novel electronic sensing techniques from other industrial sectors (such as defence and space) will lead to the development of an online measurement for continuous intensified freeze-drying.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
