Current intensive farming methods make the crops we produce more susceptible to disease, pests and extreme weather events. They require the use of more expensive machinery, more fuel, sprays and larger quantities of fertilizer to maintain crop yields, all at the expensive of the soil health, local ecosystem and environment. The long-term future of these methods is unsustainable both from a business and environmental perspective.

The Innovation

We have identified a method to adapt existing Regenerative Farming principles, that builds organic matter, increases crop/organism diversity, reduces the reliance upon chemical sprays and fertilizer and minimizes soil disturbance. Financially building in resilience and reduces the environmental damage.

The Enabler

To develop inter-row robotic mower to be used in all commercially grown arable crops, such that once the field is drilled the mower can follow the crop path with a level of autonomy and enable the crop to grow without the need for fertilisers or sprays.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
