CFDX's main team is composed of Dr. Ravi Solanki (Project Lead), Dr. Jonathan Wan (Technical Lead), and Hannah Thompson (Clinical Operations). Additional partnerships have also been established with Dr. Ivan Koychev, the Chief Investigator of Dementias Platforms UK Great Minds and Clinical Studies Register at the University of Oxford, the largest targeted brain health research volunteer database in the UK (over 62k individuals).

Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK and the seventh globally, with an estimated 139 million people worldwide expected to have it by 2050 (WHO, 2020). Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia, primarily affecting individuals aged 65 and older (Harman et al., 2006). However, the global number of persons with AD dementia and preclinical AD were estimated at 32 and 315 million, respectively, this constitutes around 347 million or 22% of all persons aged 50 and above, (Gustavsson _et al._, 2023). AD and other dementias have become a significant and increasing health concern, impacting millions of individuals globally (Nichols _et al._, 2019). Current diagnostic methods for AD rely on clinical signs and symptoms, which often lag behind actual brain changes (Jack _et al._, 2010), resulting in late detection, thus limiting the effectiveness of available treatments.

Early diagnosis of AD enables clinical trials to focus on patients with less severe neurological changes, enhancing the potential effectiveness of disease-modifying drugs. Additionally, early detection enables patients and their families to access support services and engage in advance care planning while patients are still capable.

CFDX is developing a novel diagnostic tool for AD and related neurodegenerative diseases, by translating advances in early cancer detection into a group of diseases that is the leading cause of death in the UK. CFDX's novel approach will leverage strong industry and research partnerships, extensive experience within the team, and AI expertise to create an advanced precision detection method using biological markers and advanced AI data analysis.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
