A proof-of-concept display has been successfully demonstrated in the laboratory (TRL2) last year. The display projects simple holographic images (numbers, text, icons) that float in mid-air, which can be changed dynamically. No glasses are needed to view the 3D images. The display system comprises a patent-pending holographic screen, a laser-illumiated shutter mask and a controller with software. The early results are good with large, bright images and the display has won several awards. The next step is to make a commercially viable demo. The benefits of HUDs are increased safety and improved driver response without looking down at a dashboard. The breakthrough innovation may be used across the transport sector in avionics, commmercial vehicles and boats.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
