This absence of location data limits the ability to assess and model the economic impacts of climate change, transition risks, and geopolitical instability. Without knowing where investments are physically situated, it is impossible to apply emerging scientific insights and AI tools that could enhance resilience to economic shocks triggered by environmental tipping points or global uncertainty. Current self-reported data is insufficient in scale and accuracy to safeguard financial systems, ecosystems, and communities.

The Network for Greening the Financial System warns that if global temperatures rise to 2.7°C by 2100, the economic impact on companies could reach USD 25 trillion by 2050\. Addressing this challenge, the proposed solution aims to connect financial systems more directly to the planet by increasing transparency through a global database of verified asset locations. This initiative leverages AI, machine learning, and data fusion to create authoritative location identifiers for use by financial institutions and multinational corporations, thereby enhancing their investment resilience and positively impacting their operations.

A proof of concept has been tested on soy supply chains. The success of this pilot led to the registration of The True Position Registry, a platform designed to bring this vision to life.

The next step is this focused three-month project to explore how this asset identification registry can be integrated into financial systems and tested with financial portfolio analysis platforms. This project AIR (Asset Identification Registry for AI applications for financial services) will define the technical requirements, design a conceptual architecture independent of specific technologies, and identify the components needed for a pilot. It will also outline a high-level project plan, determine necessary skills and resources (including architecture, platform, and UI development, GIS, AI, and data management), and conduct interoperability testing with end users.

Stakeholder and customer engagement will be central throughout, with regular steering meetings to ensure alignment and progress. Ultimately, this initiative seeks to lay the groundwork for a scalable, transparent system that links financial decision-making to real-world environmental and asset data.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
