By combining artificial intelligence with sustainable cargo bike logistics, we're building a platform that makes same-day local delivery accessible and affordable for small businesses.

**How It Works** Customers can order from multiple local shops through a single online platform. Our AI system intelligently combines these orders and creates optimised delivery routes for electric cargo bikes, making deliveries faster and more efficient than traditional van-based services. This gives independent retailers the same convenient delivery capabilities that large companies offer, while supporting local high streets and reducing carbon emissions.

**Innovation and Benefits** The project brings together two key innovations: advanced AI algorithms that predict and coordinate customer demand across multiple businesses, and professional cargo bike operations that can navigate urban areas more efficiently than vans. This combination creates delivery networks that are both environmentally sustainable and commercially viable for small businesses.

Local customers benefit from convenient access to multiple independent retailers through one platform, while supporting their local community and reducing their carbon footprint. Local businesses gain access to professional delivery services typically only available to large retailers, helping them compete and grow.

**Partnership and Location** Kale AI, a London-based specialist in AI logistics optimisation, is partnering with Pedal Me, operators of the UK's first professionally accredited cargo bike fleet. The trial will take place in Lambeth, London, working closely with Lambeth Council and local Business Improvement Districts to support independent businesses in targeted areas.

**Environmental Impact** The project aims to significantly reduce car trips for local shopping and eliminate multiple separate delivery vans serving the same areas. By consolidating deliveries through cargo bikes, we expect to achieve substantial carbon emission reductions while strengthening local business ecosystems.

**Vision for the Future** Our vision is to replicate this model across other UK councils, providing a scalable solution for Local Authorities seeking to support local businesses while meeting net zero commitments. The project demonstrates how technology can create win-win solutions that benefit communities, businesses, and the environment simultaneously, with plans for national expansion following the successful Lambeth trial.

This trial represents a practical approach to sustainable urban logistics that puts local communities and environmental responsibility at its centre.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
