The technology is intended to be deployed on a GPU-enabled real-time mapping device to be used by site professionals such as engineers and architects. The compact handheld sensor payload combines camera, lidar, and inertial measurements with robust multi-sensor fusion algorithms.

This capability would improve the efficiency and frequency of surveying, and also improve the productivity of the construction process through more accurate building designs. Related benefits include reduced project rework and material waste. The proposed device will use edge-AI to automatically generate semantically-labelled 3D models and floor plans in real-time while on site. This can be used to model the status of the current building and to update the Building Information Model (BIM) during the construction phase with zero delay.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
