treatment process which they have called NUTREM. To carry out the research and
development required to deliver the process to market requires construction of a full scale,
operating NUTREM prototype. Once the prototype has been commissioned, the development
of unique process equipment and control will enable highly efficient biological nutrient
removal (BNR) to be performed. Discussions with the UK Water and Sewerage Companies
(WaSCs) have demonstrated that there will be significant market interest in this technology
when the prototype is running successfully. Initially, WaSCs see its potential application for
small to medium size works (up to 100,000 Population Equivalent). NUTREM should prove a
more TOTEX competitive solution to nutrient removal than alternative BNR technologies. It
will also offer WaSCs and other users a viable long term, sustainable alternative to chemical
dosing for nutrient removal (via chemical precipitation).</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
