As the Combined Authority prepares for a full network review and a pioneering franchising model, the &amp;quot;Big Data Digital Twin of Mass Transit in Liverpool City Region for Smart, Equitable Mobility&amp;quot; project will unite researchers in the UK and South Korea to develop technology solutions for enhancing the network, growing patronage and promoting sustainability, liveability and equity within Liverpool.

LCRCA, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, UK based technology providers Podaris, South Korea partners Sundosoft Inc, Busan Techno Park, Busan Metropolitan Government and Pusan National University will undertake this landmark project. This project will develop tools and research approaches for the recasting of the region's bus network, with the aim of better serving the local population, improving its efficiency and growing patronage by up to 80%.

Using state-of-the-art data modelling techniques and information derived from real-time vehicle location data, the research groups will create a 'digital twin' of the region's transport network. This digital twin will allow for the accurate modelling of future transport scenarios such as route changes and fare reductions, to reduce delays/journey times and enhance the popularity of buses for patrons.

The project also aims to provide insights into aspects of the network that can be optimised to facilitate greater connectedness throughout the region for all residents, and reduce transport inequality.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
