Conjointly, carrying out the technical and environmental assessment and validation of concrete produced and delivered to a live construction site, in the hope of accelerating the specification and enable further advances in standardisation, for its future commercialisation.

Our project brings together a leading expert consortium providing an integrated solution: John Sisk and Son, Ecocem, Ramboll Group, Loughborough University, Creagh Concrete, Capital Concrete, BRE Group and Quintain Ltd, with a common desire: Decarbonise concrete and construction rapidly. This consortium aims to invite the Concrete Commitment Cohort (CCC) to support this innovative project as we know that building a sustainable future requires collaboration and commitment from everyone.

Ecocem ACT is a new scalable low carbon concrete technology which reduces the clinker content of cement by up to 70%, by replacing it with abundantly available local supplementary cementitious materials (SCM's) and fillers, with very high percentage of limestone filler. Cement clinker manufacture is highly carbon intensive and replacing its manufacture with low carbon and low energy materials reduces the carbon footprint of ACT. ACT is based on the use of SCMs already approved by the cement and concrete standards, with specific chemical additions for rheology and activation, and designed for low-water content concretes. That allows for the use of higher percentage of SCMs. Implementing Ecocem ACT enables up to 70% CO2 reduction without excessive cost, making it globally scalable and rapidly deployable.

As a Tier 1 contractor, John Sisk and Son is committed to deliver excellence and to lead the construction industry. With a robust presence in the United Kingdom, Ireland and wider Europe, we acknowledge our responsibility to address climate change. We strive to be at the forefront of positive change, fully cognizant of the risks and opportunities this presents to our business. We recognise that our success is closely linked to the health of the planet and the well-being of communities in which we operate.

Our approach builds on the principle that active engagement in social progress and environmental protection is essential for the long-term resilience and sustainability of our business and the communities in which we operate. This means taking positive action to reduce our environmental impact.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
