The emissions reduction trajectory for 2050 implied by the DfT's analysis is an annual CO2 reduction rate of at least 5 to 6%.

Moonlight Energy's mission is to make last-mile transport sustainable and efficient. We provide portable swap battery stations for electric motorcycles and scooters. Our Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for electric motorcycles and scooters is intended to eliminate the worries of charging times and range which are seen as the major roadblocks in the path to EV domination in the two-wheeled market. Our swap stations are small, modular, and efficient and can be scaled up and down to demand. We save over 1.12 kg CO2e per motorcycle per year.

Our project will return &amp;pound;20 for every &amp;pound;1 of private and public investment mainly from improved air quality, customer and NHS savings, and the proliferation of new jobs (up to 5000 by 2030) resulting from the rollout of our solution.

In this project, we will demonstrate the relevance of battery swapping as a service for fleet operators and highlight the benefits of using our sensors with AI and Machine learning to create a digital twin of our proposed swap battery network to understand how the following factors - charge rate, ambient temperature, speed of the vehicle and load factor affect the performance and efficiency of our batteries.

Our solution has multiple environmental, social and economic benefits. Swap-it aids the UK government's commitment to the Climate Change Act (2019) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 100% of 1990 levels by 2050\. By encouraging more local green mobility. Our solution will ensure 1.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) savings per annum, equivalent to about 0.3% of the UK's current greenhouse emissions.

Swap-It will create value for fleet operators, energy generators, suppliers, and EV owners in excess of &amp;pound;100m by Y5\. We will re-invest at least 30% of our annual earnings into R&amp;amp;D for battery recycling and recovery to limit unsustainable sand mining practices that harm our environment.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
