Steriderm will prevent catheter related infections that in turn will reduce the use of antibiotic treatments and un-necessary hospital stay time as well as saving thousands of lives. Hospital stay time due to hospital acquired infections is somewhere between 7-21 days per patient, and is a key contributor to the £1B spent by the NHS each year to treat infections. Steriderm can reduce the number of infections, the length of un-necessary hospital stay time and associated costs to the NHS. Steriderm comprises of two components:(i) an electronic dispensing unit and (ii) a capsule containing antiseptic. The Steriderm capsule system allows healthcare professionals to choose which antiseptic to deploy for each patient based on their skin type, (an option not available in pre-coated products).Steriderm is easy to use with a traffic light indicator system to moni...</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
