Sending intimate images or 'nudes' is increasingly common: 25% of British adults have sent an intimate image online (increasing to 42% for those aged 18-45). Unable to find an effective solution, most senders do not protect their content. This leaves them exposed to the growing threat of intimate image abuse, also known as 'revenge porn' or 'sextortion'. As many as 15% of British people have experienced their intimate images being shared without their consent. The effects of this abuse are devastating. The Revenge Porn Helpline, a Home Office-funded agency, has received 338K reports since 2015\. The majority of its cases needed a referral to mental health services. In the USA, the FBI identified more than 20 sextortion cases that resulted in the victim's suicide in an 18-month period. Unfortunately, this horrific abuse is growing: reports rose 106% in 2023\.

Linq is developing a system that continuously detects threats. This Perpetual Verification system will be deployed into the Linq app. Users can trust Linq's Perpetual Verification system to protect sensitive content and ensure it's only seen by the sender's intended recipients. With Perpetual Verification, a recipient who has access to sensitive content can't screenshot it, take a photo of it, or even show it to someone next to them. And whenever they decide to break links, they can revoke access to their content, so they're always in control.

Linq is on a mission to end revenge-porn and sextortion by giving people control over their intimate content, even after they've sent it. With the addition of Perpetual Verification to the Linq app, the business expects to reduce intimate image abuse for its users by 90%.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
