Understanding and managing this risk is a key element of ensuring the reliability of the chain itself. Riskaware has developed an approach for the defence sector which could be used to understand and manage uncertainty in the agrifood sector. This methodology and its associated software application, MASTAT, is already being applied in the defence industry to manage uncertainty in complex simulation systems and to support critical decision making. Typical applications we envisage within the agrifood chain are managing contamination risks from food toxins, adulteration and microbial spoilage.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
