The innovation is based on:
- A novel “drilling” equipment based on pile driving, which will dramatically cut the installation cost and footprint.
- A novel ultra-efficient GSHP configuration, based on a direct expansion coaxial copper tube heat exchanger filled with the most environmentally benign refrigerant, carbon dioxide.
The resulting benefits for the system will be: (a) low-cost; (b) easy to install; (c) high-efficiency; (d) low-footprint; (e) suitable for retrofitting at minimal cost and disturbance; and (g) environmentally friendly by dramatically reducing CO2 emissions; (h) high output water temperature for the heat distribution system.
The deliverables will be:
• A prototype for our lightweight pile driver.
• Operating guidelines for the pile driver in multiple soil conditions.
• A proof of concept for the Calorterra GSHP.
• Field tests results for the Calorterra GSHP concept, and preliminary idea of performance for various heating loads and soil input factors.
• At least two patents protecting our concept</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
