When combined with our identity locker, this creates a trustworthy identity which automates many existing processes. -The acute need for this comes from the UK Financial Services Industry, which currently spends billions of pounds undertaking background checks on customers, whilst simultaneously storing data internally and build vast liability - also creating a valuable honeypot for hackers. Our solution is to put ID in the hands of the individual - made possible only recently by cutting-edge technology developments. -We have already built - through a funded experiment with Barclay's Bank - a prototype of the ID 'locker', where an individual makes assertions about their own ID. Our Innovate UK project is to build a prototype of the attestation side of the system. This means linking the information held by certification bodies such as Companies House or the DVLA, to the claims made by individuals about their ID. The combination of distributed ledger technology and distributed filing systems means we can create a trustworthy digital identity that can truly 'live online', automating the bank's due diligence requirements, and vastly reducing liability exposure.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
