There are 644 million hair colour treatments each year in Europe. These treatments contain
chemicals strong enough to permanently cover grey hair. These chemicals are also potent
sensitisers, meaning repeated exposure can make consumers allergic. As a result 1% of the
population are now thought to be allergic to hair dye and the number is believed to be
increasing. An allergic response can happen at any time, even if the product has been used
many times before without incident. Reactions range from mild swelling to anaphylactic
shock, even death. Despite decades of research there is no sign of a safer alternative on the
horizon.
To protect consumers against the risk of allergy, hair colour brands recommend a safety
protocol called an Allergy Alert Test. The Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety
considers this test inadequate. Even the industry’s own compliance data proves how poorly it
performs.
Trichocare’s simple innovation will safeguard millions of adults intending to use hair dye by
taking a proven medicine, already used to diagnose allergy to hair dye, and supplying it as an
alternative to the poor performing Allergy Alert Test.
Colourstart® will transform the safety of hair colour.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
