consumer market, based on the integration of a wireless inertial sensor unit with a smartphone
app. The details of the user’s motion will be extracted from the sensor data and then
displayed by a smartphone app to provide an enhanced user experience with graphical display
of performance.
The concept is based on the integration of a number of technologies to produce a new and
novel product range. The development of sports specific algorithms to process the sensor data
will make the product unique and increase the available information for the user. The project
aims to show how the algorithms developed and low cost hardware have sufficient
performance to allow a realistic and accurate display of the results, and for a commercially
viable product to be developed.
The project is expected to lead to the filing of at least 1 patent, and the new product range will
allow the expansion of Vert Systems including the creation of a number of new jobs. The
market for the product is international and so there is considerable export potential from the
outcome of the project</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
