Provision of this description is mandatory.
For over 14 years, the S-cool website (www.s-cool.co.uk) has been the UK's largest free
GCSE and A level revision website with over 7.8 million visitors, viewing over 24.9 million
pages of educational content a year, via its website, online books and phone apps. Originally
launched in 2000 by S-cool Limited, S-cool Youth Marketing Limited was formed in 2010 to
provide dedicated focus on the expansion of the S-cool Educational website. This has lead to
rapid growth and in the last 2 years S-cool has more than doubled the number of annual
visitors and quadrupled the user registration rates.
S-cool proposes to perform a “Proof of Market” (PoM) study to establish the market size,
appetite and readiness for a ground breaking new product called Intelligent Adaptive Learning
Tutoring System (i-ALTS).
i-ALTS will use new technologies to analyse students learning behaviors and performance,
personalise the way educational material is delivered, pro-actively highlight and guide
students through areas of improvement and identify additional supporting materials. i-ALTS
will also benchmark the student against the entire student cohort and use this to monitor and
measure the student’s progress. A key technical innovation will be i-ALTS’s ability to selfevolve
its algorithms to improve its own operation through the individual student journey and
entire student cohort’s behavior over the academic year.
The objectives of the PoM is to identify and quatify the market and business opportunity for i-
ALTS. The research will focus on the markets for i-ALTS (size and nature of marketplace,
market readiness, predicted price points, predicted uptake and revenues), the competitor
environment (core competitors, nature of competition, existing products and the risks), IP
protection (suitable elements and protection mechanisms) and the plan to take i-ALTS to
commercial product (timeline and costs of the development, operation, marketing and sales of
i- ALTS).</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
