10003157Tenderstem Harvest Feasibility StudyClosedCollaborative R&DISCFGrowers' ability to obtain large **seasonal workforces** to harvest field vegetables has been severely impacted by Covid-19, Brexit and declining migrant **worker availability** across Europe(4). English agriculture needs an alternative to the annual 75,000 migrant harvest labourers(5). Domestic labour does not provide a solution: very few 'Pick for Britain' workers remained on farms longer than one week(7). As price takers, growers cannot profitably offer higher wages(6). This project is an important step on Muddy Machine's journey to provide **reliable mechanical vegetable harvesters** to address the needs of UK growers, including our collaborator Barfoots of Botley(17)
