With the support of the UK Cinema Association, Built For Good (BFG) has developed a system through which closed captions are displayed on smart glasses, enabling people to view subtitles for any film screening they choose.

Our prototype system uses the latest off-the-shelf glasses hardware, and we are now in new phase of user testing so that the system can be refined prior to commercialisation. This project will test our business model so that it balances usability and availability for caption users with affordability to cinema operators who are still recovering from the pandemic. Profit would be reinvested in the technology, continually improving the user's experience and enabling our business to grow in the UK and in untapped markets in Europe and the USA.

Alongside industry improvements in the availability of open captioned screenings, we believe the adoption of our technology will enable cinemas to better engage with the 12m+ deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing people in the UK who could benefit from subtitles.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
