This should improve person satisfaction and help with early detection and better outcomes/ less side-effects from treatments. It will allow problems to be picked up and treatments started early, reducing wastage. For diabetes, this means less complications like heart attacks, strokes, kidney problems etc. meaning less hospital admissions and less pressure and cost to the NHS.

**Objectives/ Aims**

This project includes partners from industry (MyWay Digital Health (MWDH)), Academia (University of Dundee) and NHS (Somerset) and a collaborator in Saudi Arabia (Fakeeh). It will design, develop, build, test and disseminate a computer-based tool (called MyWay Precision) and linked patient-facing app to improve care for people with diabetes (diabetes affects 10% of the world/ 15% of NHS costs). This builds on years of work by MWDH, who already sell a diabetes and clinical app to help with care and self-management/ have developed around 70 algorithms (computer-based learning) to predict healthcare needs for people with diabetes AND University of Dundee (10+ years of research including assessing how genetics influence diagnosis/ medication responses).

This project uses information collected in medical records, genetic data, and eye screening images to predict the type of diabetes someone has (including rare types), whether they are likely to suffer from complications in short or long term, and which drugs they are most likely to respond to/ have side effects from, and finally how lifestyle changes (like weight loss, smoking cessation, activity, medication adherence, diet change) may affect their outcomes.

The MyWay Precision tool will be develop with the potential to automatically book consultation/ screening appointments, lab tests and advise around prescribing based on an individual's personal needs/ risks. A patient app will allow better understanding and empower people to take part in coordination of their care. This project will develop understanding around requirements for setting up precision medicine systems in new locations where patients and the way care is delivered may be very different. It will develop an early-stage digital system helping people with/ at risk of heart disease to show how this approach can work not just for diabetes. The project will review regulation and safety requirements for running this system and will use existing partner networks to deliver this approach more widely.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
