November 2011. It has met with critical acclaim winning the "Best Media Web Site" title in
the Prolific North Awards 2013. Our website currently attracts an average of more than
200,000 page views per months and its clients include Sound City Liverpool, the Liverpool
International Music Festival, Liverpool Music Awards, News UK, and Moorecrofts LLP.
In February 2013 BTVL was awarded the licence to broadcast Liverpool local TV by Ofcom,
beating off stiff competition. BTVL expects to commence broadcasts in Spring 2014, on
Freeview Channel 8, together with 18 other similar local TV licence holders. We wish to
examine the market for "real time bidding" in TV advertising and the use of gamification
techniques to moderate UGC and UGA (user generated adverts).
Local TV opens-up television advertising to SMEs excluded from TV advertising by the
pricing models of established broadcasters. The market is for real-time bidding on TV
advertising inventory, including demographic ad targeting a so called "Google AdWords for
TV". We will test gamification and other tecniques to build and sustain the audience, increase
TV viewer satisfaction and reduced the burden of User Generated Content moderation
We wish to examine the market for a web interface with linear TV and programmes delivered
in cross platform formats. The project will explore the potential for creating an interface via
which clients and viewers may upload user generated adverts within a real-time bidding
environment for the available airtime and platform views and video rolls. We will also
examine and prove the market for monetising and moderating User Generated Content and
User Generated Advertising.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
