10126432HEI-HeightClosedEU-FundedHorizon Europe GuaranteeThe HEIght project, a pan-European collaboration among four innovative higher education institutions (HEIs) and one external partner, successfully advanced sustainable innovation in both institutions and society. The project aimed to foster climate-resilient, inclusive societies by promoting sustainable food systems and other sectors, contributing to net-zero carbon economies. Throughout its lifecycle, HEIght delivered training and mentoring to over 1,200 participants, including 645 students, 66 academics, and 66 non-academics. The project’s success extended to the launch of 10 start-ups, with structured programmes such as Jetstream, Changemakers, and Innovation Toolkit. These initiatives equipped participants with entrepreneurial skills through tools like Systems Thinking, psychometric testing, and enterprise-focused curricula across partner institutions in the UK, Cyprus, Malta, and Turkey. The project embraced a "train the trainer" model to ensure exponential growth in capacity-building, focusing on academic and non-academic staff, which resulted in institutional changes across HEIs. Senior leadership programmes developed by the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE) facilitated the removal of barriers to entrepreneurship, enhancing innovation from the top-down. In its third phase, HEIght embedded student enterprise programmes into academic curricula, resulting in increased engagement from both students and faculty. A significant outcome was the establishment of Communities of Practice (COP), fostering sustained growth in innovation and entrepreneurship beyond the project's end. Partners continue to use their experiences to develop similar COPs within their institutions, ensuring the project’s long-term impact on HEIs and broader society. In its final phase, the project successfully embedded student enterprise programmes into academic curricula, leading to increased engagement from both students and faculty. A major outcome of this phase was the establishment of Communities of Practice (COPs), which foster sustained growth in innovation and entrepreneurship beyond the project’s completion. Partners are now utilizing their experiences to develop similar COPs within their own institutions, ensuring the project’s long-term impact on HEIs and broader society. Other key achievements include the development of the Amplify dashboard, which assesses innovation capacity, and the training of over 128 academic and non-academic staff through the Entrepreneurial Teams programme, which exceeded initial targets. The JetStream portal was integrated into university curricula, significantly boosting student participation in enterprise training. Additionally, the Change Makers programme and Innovation Toolkit trained 44 students in systems innovation and entrepreneurial skills, while the GrowTecH programme supported the scaling of four start-ups. Through these initiatives, HEIght effectively built innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, with COPs ensuring the sustainability of these impacts across partner institutions.
