is to continue with the development of a new ground breaking, chemical free and low energy
pool water filtration technology for Natural Swimming Pools (NSPs)
During a previous SMART Proof of Concept project, invaluable knowledge through scientific
research was gained and exciting discoveries involving new materials which can control
Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorous (P) were made.
This project will leverage this research progress to go from current lab scale and trial
prototypes to a full size pre-production prototype filtration system, capable of revolutionising
the pool filtration industry. The eventual technology aim is to offer pool owners natural water
filtration methods at a time when they are becoming increasingly concerned with the high
running costs and health implications of chlorine as a means of pool sanitation.
In addition we have identified significant technology spin off applications arising from our
R&D which include large scale Lake remediation products.
Project Aims and objectives:
- To design and build a pre-production modular bio-filtration prototype for a pools with upto
90m3 water.
- To fully test the system and prove the systems capability in effectively controlling algae, biofilms
and waterborne pathogens
- To research, assess and select the optimum biological growing media and optimal conditions
for Phosphorus and Nitrogen removing microorganisms
- To research and develop a technology roll out plan within key target markets and
geographical areas
- To physically demonstrate the disseminate the filtration technology in key target markets
- To investigate and define optimal 3rd party servicing and maintenance structures and
methods of technical product support</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
