As more data about people and companies is held in the cloud security issues are becoming a great concern. Currently encryption technology is used to secure data but this has a major vunerability as the encryption keys are stored and can therefore be lost or stolen thus comprimising the data that is held. Metrarc is a Cambridge based university startup that has developed a highly novel technology for deriving encryption keys directly from the operating characteristics of digital systems without having to store the encryption keys, a technology termed ICMetrics™. In this project, the Company will estabish the feasibility of developing the existing hardware based ICMetrics technology to operate in a software environment in order to efficiently verify the authenticity of cloud based services without any user interaction and without the requirement to store any encryption key.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
