Our project introduces a pioneering diagnostic platform combining semiconductors, AI, quantum technologies, and engineering biology. It detects unique protein fingerprints from a simple liquid sample to provide a diagnosis in **under 5 min** for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's using the photonic-semiconductor sensor.

These diseases are a growing crisis costing the UK economy over **£45B annually**, with current diagnostic processes taking up to **2 years,** a critical delay that limits treatment options. Our technology tackles this challenge by providing the ultra-high sensitivity needed to spot the disease at its earliest molecular stages.

Aligned with the NHS Long-Term Plan, this platform aims to transform patient care through early, personalised interventions. By providing a faster, more accessible diagnostic tool, we can accelerate the development of new therapies, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the significant societal burden of these devastating conditions.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
