However, many children struggle with math and parental involvement is crucial in bridging this gap. This project aims to provide comprehensive support for mums, to help their kids with math at home through a three-strand approach: a physical teaching resource, a guided workbook of activities and a math tutor virtual assistant. By combining these elements, we empower mums to become effective math mentors for their children.

Hands-on, practical activities can dramatically increase retention rates in children.Research shows that learners retain only 5% of material presented aurally and 30% when taught by demonstration. Hands-on, interactive participation can lead to as much as a 75% retention rate. This is why a practical teaching resource is a crucial element to our three- strand approach. The Math Tutor Mum kit will contain a working baseboard and additional add-on components to support children from age 7\. Using colour to number association, this resource has the capabilities to support children of all abilities and learning styles. Intriguing by design, engaging even the most reluctant learners, it builds on the most fundamental aspects of number.

A carefully curated workbook will guide mums through various math activities. This workbook will align with curriculum standards and the specific needs of different age groups. It will provide step-by-step instructions, reasoning, examples and practice exercises, ensuring that mums have a clear roadmap to follow, allowing mothers with varying levels of mathematical expertise to assist their children effectively. In today's diverse learning landscape, children benefit from a balanced blend of traditional teaching methods and digital resources for a fully comprehensive learning experience.

In our digital age, technology plays a pivotal role in education. We will develop an easy-to-use Learning Management System with real time interaction and feedback, a math tutor virtual assistant. Mums and their children will explore math concepts and problems through engaging digital tools, allowing for personalised learning experiences, accommodating various learning styles, with step-by-step guidance and visual representations and the option of asking questions to clarify or consolidate.

The three strand approach will ensure mums are empowered with all the necessary tools to boost their confidence as educators, children will have a multi-sensory learning experience making math more engaging and enjoyable, it provides equal access irrespective of a family's socioeconomic background and enables mums to identify areas needing more attention whilst celebrating their child's achievements.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
