Regular ground water data is used to protect workers, the public and the environment. Currently, the periodic monitoring process is resource heavy in terms of both the cost and time required to obtain, analyse and collate the data from groundwater samples. In this project, we propose to develop a novel, automated water sampling and analysis system. The resulting system will encompass a number of features to satisfy the demands for groundwater monitoring, including direct sample acquisition from boreholes, sample pre-treatment, improvements to the lower limit of detection to enable more accurate quantification of key environmental radionuclides and a specific software package to automate the data acquisition and analysis processes.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
