of a next generation 7.5 Tonne battery powered electric delivery vehicle for sale in the U.K.
and Europe.
We have a strong belief, backed up by Modec customer feedback that the 5.5T GVW of the
Modec was a hindrance for many customers and that 7.5T would be a more commercially
attractive proposition for these customers.
Project objectives
The Marketing study will assess the size of the market in Europe for this type of vehicle,
concentrating on the urban customers who operate back-to-base delivery vehicles who will be
a prime target area for this 7.5T electric powered vehicle.
A study of current pricing for vehicles in this market sector will also be performed.
LEC2 will look to form a strategic partnership with a U.K. or European volume manufacturer
in order to benefit from economies of scale for components or to possibly use an existing
Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) platform with a view to converting it to electric propulsion.
The “lessons learned” that the team have from the experience of producing the Modec, and
our knowledge of European Type Approval requirements will, we believe, give us the edge
over any competition and the ability to get the vehicle to market quickest.
The main benefit of introducing this kind of vehicle is to help “clean up” inner city areas
where CO2 emissions are particularly heavy from vehicles of this size. It is estimated that a
saving of 12Tonnes of CO2 per annum per vehicle can be achieved which will make a
significant contribution to helping governments to achieve their targets for reduction in
emissions. We also believe that there will be incentives to clean up vehicle fleets imposed by
governments (striving to meet their emissions targets).</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
