For example, given brand guidelines and existing design assets, a designer may have to design an annual report, website, or mobile app in a similar style. This problem is found across industries, including graphic design, web design, publishing, printing, software design, and many others.

The adaptation process is costly, time-consuming, and diverts skilled professionals from more meaningful tasks, causing bottlenecks for these industries and their clients.

Through discussions with our users and potential customers, Papermill has identified a clear opportunity to utilise cutting edge AI technologies to automate the design extension and adaptation process:

* An AI system, called DesignAI, takes an organisation's homepage URL as input and assisted by the latest technical advances in AI conducts an analysis of elements such as colours, logos, fonts, whitespace, and overall style as well as the content and sentiment of the website for the context of the business.
* Subsequently, based on the context, the AI system automatically generates a description of the company's visual identity. Templates for documents and other visual assets can be created from this description using generative AI methods.

DesignAI has a wide range of applications in sectors where automated design may assist in, for example, creating presentations, reports, posters, media assets, websites and other templates.

DesignAI is unique in the market. Extensive market research has found no similar intelligent document layout tools; most focus on content or image generation, and most document layout remain a manual process. Prior academic research emphasises synthesising attractive graphics but neglects the interplay of text content and document layout. DesignAI is a unique approach that will dramatically accelerate the design process, saving cost and time for the creative industries.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
