These will specify the product data required throughout the construction lifecycle from project specification through construction, handover and FM and will include physical, performance, operational and sustainability related characteristics. The templates will be used to collect product data from manufacturers and build a comprehensive product database which will facilitate collaboration on building projects and the interoperability between systems required for the implementation of full 5D BIM. The templates will be compatible with current and emerging industry standards but will offer a more comprehensive solution specific to the Building Services sector. A major challenge is to reach a solution which has industry-wide consensus.
