This will in turn increase demand on the local electricity network. Research from the University of Reading estimates there is over 2GWh of backup power in the UK that, during winter when required cooling load is low, could be used for other purposes such as regional balancing or flex.

Unlocking this potential capacity could accelerate the decarbonisation of reserve power systems and reduce the net load increase on the electricity network.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
