YorEnergy was designed to help households overcome barriers to home energy improvements such as cost, complexity, and lack of trust. It combines impartial advice, digital tools, trusted suppliers, affordable finance, and community engagement into a simple, end-to-end journey.

In this next phase, the project will move from being a successful pilot to a market-ready service that can be adopted by local authorities, housing associations, and community energy organisations as well as its direct to customer (B2C) approach.

The project will deliver three interconnected strands of activity:

1. Local Authority Route to Market - We will provide local authorities with clear, practical guidance on how they can engage with retrofit one-stop shops. Specialist consultancy will set out the legal and procurement options available to councils and combined authorities, giving them confidence to adopt YorEnergy or similar services. This work removes a major barrier to scale by showing councils exactly how to act.
2. Commercialisation and Market Making - We will develop/refine the business plan, investment strategy, and product roadmap that underpin YorEnergy's mid/long-term growth, alongside high-quality marketing and sales materials that communicate its benefits. Using these assets, we will run a series of regional roadshows to demonstrate YorEnergy's value to decision-makers, culminating in a national retrofit conference. This will create awareness, build confidence, and open opportunities for YorEnergy to be adopted more widely.
3. Financial Innovation - We will carry out feasibility and readiness work for authorisation as a financial broker. This would enable YorEnergy to market its existing credit union-backed loan product more effectively and to build partnerships with other lenders in the future. Affordable finance is a key enabler for retrofit, and this step ensures the service can support households to act at scale.

What makes this project innovative is its system-wide approach: combining procurement clarity, commercial frameworks, and financial solutions into a single, replicable model. By March 2026, YorEnergy will be a market-ready proposition with clear adoption pathways for councils. This will unlock investment, create green jobs, and help communities across the UK make their homes warmer, cheaper to run, and lower in carbon emissions.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
