Despite known health impacts of excessive sitting, office workers spend on average 5hours/day sitting at their desk. With hybrid home-working becoming a permanent arrangement, employers need to adapt their health and safety responsibilities for those working from home in addition to the office.

Using a people-centred design approach this project will develop a service (desktop/web/mobile app) around the VRGO-fyt sensor prototype (developed through Innovate UK Smart project ref-52666) that effectively motivates employees to be more active through standup nudges, stretching exercises and motivational information. This Fyt service-wrapper aims to improve the ageing journey for office workers, reducing pain and improving mental health through improving posture and physical activity.

Innovative smart sensor technologies and custom machine-learning algorithms are tailored to each user, enabling independent self-care. An iterative double diamond design process with our user community will discover, define, develop, deliver and evaluate, resulting in a service that is user tested and market ready.

Our target market is corporate wellness (global $56,991m-2020, _\[Ref1-ReportLinker\]_), accessed through HR departments interested in engaging staff, monitoring wellness, improving performance, improving mental health and tackling the challenges of working from home (post-Covid). 95% of HR leaders think it is important for organizations to support and encourage their employees to be physically active _\[Ref2-HarrisPoll\_HRSurvey2019\]_.

This project addresses this through building a service targeted at desk-based workers, that is engaging, simple to set up, low future maintenance and adaptable to work with all chair varieties. A remote monitoring platform will use data collected to assist corporate wellness leaders plan, track, manage and execute wellness programs that drive employee participation and deliver meaningful, valuable results.

The final project outcome will be a fully functioning service ready for manufacture scale-up and market launch. Future iterations could include more holistic options, i.e. mindfulness practice, hydration, breathing etc.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
