Enamel erosion is a major contributor to these conditions, affecting almost 50% of the world's population. Evidence suggests that poor oral health may also be linked to non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular complications, and pneumonia.

However, current treatments such as fluoride varnishes and remineralisation solutions only alleviate the symptoms of receding enamel. There is currently no solution available that can effectively re-grow enamel with non-toxic compounds that are easy to use and produce comparable structures and mechanical properties in a patient-friendly manner.

Mintech has developed a patent-pending compound and process to create a topical varnish for teeth that can regrow enamel. This breakthrough innovation has the potential to replace preventative fluoride varnishes, regenerate eroded dental enamel, and significantly reduce the global burden of oral health diseases. To achieve this goal, this grant proposal aims to bring Mintech's current prototype into a market-ready state and prepare it for commercialisation. With the successful implementation of this project, Mintech's enamel-regenerating varnish could revolutionise oral healthcare and improve the quality of life for millions of people worldwide.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
