Mega-constellations operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) will re-define connectivity and generate huge volumes of data, enabling high value IoT and remote sensing applications. The scope of NanoSat deployment, mission scenarios, lifetime, and post-mission de-orbiting are determined by the on-board propulsion system. Existing propulsion systems do not meet the market’s needs; chemical propulsion is heavy and inefficient, whilst electric propulsion delivers extremely low thrust. A new system that delivers high efficiency for longer lifetimes, and high thrust for manoeuvres is required to deploy and maintain constellations. Magdrive-Nano is the first high thrust, high efficiency propulsion system; exploiting unique plasma technology to deliver unprecedented thrust-to-weight performance. It enables new space missions and business models, creating huge markets for EU SMEs and large operators.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
