A critical need to achieve decarbonisation and net-zero is to implement better strategies to control our energy usage. The aim of these strategies is to reduce energy usage whilst improving living conditions. A market survey by Eyesea Green (ESG) has shown that more than 90% of commercial buildings still use conventional energy control systems resulting in more than 30% excess wastage and poor monitoring of work and living spaces conditions.

Solution:

To address this need, ESG has developed an innovative and disruptive distributed building energy management system named Eyesense. In trials with its rapid prototyped version over the last 12 months in the Purpose Built Student Accommodation sector has shown an average energy reduction of 35% and an ROI of 2 years. Eyesense stands out by offering more than twice the energy savings of current energy management systems whilst improving living comfort. Eyesense has already gained early recognition through nominations for two innovation awards in a single year.

Opportunity:

There are currently 1000 trial Eyesenses in the field. The significantly greater benefits of Eyesense over current solutions has already led to a large demand. The UK market potential alone for Eyesense is &amp;pound;275 million with the global market being significantly larger.

Project:

To capitalise on this significant market opportunity, ESG requires pre-commercialisation support to transition from small scale production of its rapid prototype trial devices to a commercially ready product. This project will focus on four aspects, (i) scale up hardware production using mass manufacturing methods, (ii) scale up its cloud based platform, (iii) develop production quality control and testing procedures and (iv) conduct customer validation and feedback studies. This support is crucial for ESG to move towards a business model that combines hardware sales with a subscription service, offering added value. With this support, ESG aims to enhance its competitiveness through increased product reliability, cost efficiency, and product desirability. The project's deliverables include a scalable commercially ready product, establishing rigorous quality control processes, and fortifying the product's market position. ESG's approach includes leveraging existing capabilities, experience and expertise to ensure maximum project impact.

The deployment of Eyesense presents economic and social benefits, including energy savings, maintenance efficiency, healthcare cost reduction and environmental footprint reduction. It aims to position the UK as a leader in IoT and Industry 4.0 energy technologies, promoting sustainable building technologies and supporting net-zero targets.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
