Current minefield mapping methods, such as bearing and distance, are often subject to operator error and terrain bias. While GPS-enabled smartphones and tablets are only accurate to within 3 metres, leaving much room for error. MiFi Maps addresses these problems in a revolutionary way by integrating Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) technology into a compact design that attaches directly onto a deminer's metal detector and plots each sweep onto a map as it occurs with centimetre-level accuracy. In addition to the hardware, MiFi Maps will also include a user-friendly software plug-in which will automate mapping of multiple detectors working simultaneously and will be compatible with most geographic information systems in the sector.

There is currently nothing like MiFi Maps in the mine action sector. We have already proven the concept with a working prototype and are looking to improve our product and take it to the field testing and production stages of this exciting new venture.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
