main benefit of which is as an improvement in fuel economy and significant reduction in
carbon dioxide emissions. The obvious problem of replacing a large engine with a smaller one
is the loss of power which is typically overcome by supercharging or turbo charging.
The project will deliver:
• A novel engine supercharging technology (Patent pending; application no. GB1106260.1)
• The design and manufacture of a test unit
• Performance testing and correlation of 1-dimensional model
The proposed supercharger has inherent advantages when compared to conventional boost
devices and can better meet the demands of future engine/vehicle systems.
GEPE will use its extensive experience of engine systems to design, manufacture and test the
lightweight, high performance supercharging concept. Validated information will then be
available to start discussions with vehicle manufacturers or existing boosting system suppliers
to exploit the new technology.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
