To be competitive with fossil fuel generators, the reliability and affordability of renewable battery alternatives must be improved. Batteries are assembled of cells which suffer from resistance during operation, which limits the performance of the whole system and often necessitates expensive replacements.

Gaussion is a UK-based SME that develops magnetic components that reduce battery resistance. Their MagLiB technology is a low-cost solution which can be deployed with all battery applications as a bolt-on component.

This 10-month project will explore the development of battery storage units with magnetic enhancement components that increase the affordability for use-cases in the Philippines.

Gaussion will attend in-person visits to meet end-users and learn about the application environment, allowing Gaussion to develop systems that best address the real-world pain points. The project will launch with a technoeconomic feasibility assessment which will generate product concepts ready for scale-up to deployment for real-world trials.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
