The Partners will develop the world's first 48V clutch-less four-speed powershifting e-axle for city car applications and validate its performance in a physical demonstrator vehicle. The innovations made will allow low-voltage traction drives to be used in this key market for the first time, addressing the needs of a consumer base that currently accounts for 40% annual vehicle registrations in Europe.

The first 36kW implementation of the AMP-48V e-axle will showcase its disruptive potential for electric vehicle applications by integrating 48V radial-flux electrical machines from UK company 'Ashwoods Electric Motors' with the innovative, ultra-low-cost transmission, power electronics, actuation and control technologies developed by the Partners. Future variants will allow wider adoption across small-to-medium-size 'Hybrid Electric Vehicle' (HEV) and 'Connected and Autonomous Vehicle' (CAV) platforms, maximising the project's long-term impact.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
