130412Early Intervention Cell Treatment Option in Burns and ScaldsClosedFeasibility StudiesInnovate UKA proactive early intervention to treat paediatric scalds can reduce time to healing, length of hospital stay and reduce needs for costly secondary interventions arising from contractures. A donor skin cell spray available immediately at point of care offers a disruptive approach to benefit 10,000 cases in the UK a year, and can reduce the £40m annual cost to the NHS in treating scald injuries. This project will focus on developing a solution which aims to be 1) easy to use, 2) capable of reproducible scale-up and 3) cost competitive. In the future this approach could be applicable to chronic wounds, whose incidence in an ageing poulation represents a huge financial challenge for healthcare providers.
