We at Novolex are seeking to meet UK Plastics Pact targets and increase the sustainability of our entire plastics line. The aim of this project is to develop a highly recyclable and environmentally friendly plastic packaging that helps create a more circular plastics ecosystem that achieves the UK government's sustainability targets. This material will improve on current food packaging plastics with significant carbon, energy, and cost benefits, while reducing the amount of virgin plastic consumed, as well as the amount of plastic annually discarded as waste into landfills.

We are working with subcontractor GR8 Engineering to develop a more sustainable, recyclable, and reusable convenience foods packaging. Our goal is to develop a new kind of plastic, Hot Fill rPET CLEAR, which combines the excellent sustainability qualities of normal rPET with the heat resistance of PP, pioneering a new recyclable food packaging solution. If successful, we will be able to package convenience foods with rPET instead of PP, as the former will deliver significant environmental benefits, both through carbon emissions reductions and elimination of plastic waste. rPET's mechanical recyclability allows for an efficient and sustainable circular economy that delivers on UK Plastics Pact targets.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
